Weekly Report

I have a Xanga blog that's kind of a catch-all blog, so I've started this one to be a more specific homeschooling blog. For background, I'm a mother to an 8 year old daughter, a 6 year old son, and a 4 year old son. We're classical homeschoolers mostly influenced by The Well-Trained Mind.

Here is our Week in Review:

For my 8 year old--

Spelling Lessons 15-16 She missed two words on lesson 15's test, she got a perfect score on lesson 16
Phonics pgs. 100-106
Grammar Lessons 37-39
Reading she read Freckle Juice by Judy Blume, read most of the third Spiderwick Chronicles book, and began reading The Adventures of Rama
Literature we read four chapters of Harriet the Spy, about fifteen chapters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and finished reading Understood Betsy
History finished chapter 4 and did mapwork (SOTW2) and began reading chapter 5, A King Named Skandagupta with a dictation
Math pgs. 40-43, multiplying 4-digit numbers. She'll start Saxon 3 next week
Latin We've finally started using our Lively Latin book, reading "Why Do We Study Latin?" and picking a Latin name
Extras Russian class, ballet, and violin. I also had her begin cursive writing

For my 6 year old--

Spelling Lessons 22-23. He missed 2 words on Lesson 22's test and got a perfect score (plus one extra) on lesson 23's.
Phonics Ordinary Parent's Guide lessons 93-97
Grammar FLL 94-97 plus copywork
Writing pgs. 17-25
Reading 3 chapters of The Drinking Gourd
Literature finished Understood Betsy, read the same amount in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
History Chariot of the Sun God, The Golden Touch, and The Weaving Contest from Favorite Greek Myths
Math pgs. 35-41 He'll start Saxon 2 next week
Extras We missed Guitar lesson this week because of the flu, although he did go to his Russian class

For my 4 year old--

Math Lessons 1-3 from Saxon Kindergarten
Reading review lesson 4, nearly completed lesson 5 on Headsprout, lessons 4-5 from OPG
Literature two chapters from Stuart Little, "How the World Came from an Egg" from Creation: Read-Aloud Stories from Many Lands
German Muzzy
Extras He missed both Creative Movement class (dance) and Russian class because of the flu
