I'm relaxing on the couch drinking red raspberry leaf tea and listening to the sounds of London, my oldest, and Holden, my youngest, eat some Pretend Soup, which Holden just made with his father. Anthony, my husband, is getting ready to hardboil eggs so that we can dye them (hopefully he'll have better luck than Ramona, who cracked a raw egg on her head in Ramona Quimby, Age 8, which we're listening to on audiobook.

Science She worked on her science fair project and gave her presentation last night. It was on volcanoes
Spelling She played on Spellingtime.com
Foreign Languages Muzzy German and Lively Latin. Today we're going to work on some Russian nouns
Alexander (my 6 year old) did:
Phonics OPG lessons 98-103
Reading He read four Aesop's fables (the version illustrated by Milo Winter) and we shared reading for both D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
History We read 2 chapters in a children's version of The Odyssey and four chapters in D'Aulaire's Books of Greek Myths
Literature Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Papa Piccolo
Math he played with manipulatives
Science he worked on his science fair project
Foreign Languages Muzzy German. We're going to work on some Russian nouns today
Holden did:
Math He did Saxon lessons 4-8, including making and reading a pictograph
Reading he played on headsprout.com and did lessons 1-2 in Saxon
Foreign Languages Muzzy German
Literature Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel and the first chapter of Winnie-the-Pooh
Other I bounced a ball with him (from Slow and Steady Gets Me Ready) and made the pretend soup with his dad
Next week I'm going to introduce the McGuffy readers and eclectic speller, which I got in the mail this week

Weekly Report
I have a Xanga blog that's kind of a catch-all blog, so I've started this one to be a more specific homeschooling blog. For background, I'm a mother to an 8 year old daughter, a 6 year old son, and a 4 year old son. We're classical homeschoolers mostly influenced by The Well-Trained Mind.
Here is our Week in Review:
For my 8 year old--
Spelling Lessons 15-16 She missed two words on lesson 15's test, she got a perfect score on lesson 16
Phonics pgs. 100-106
Grammar Lessons 37-39
Reading she read Freckle Juice by Judy Blume, read most of the third Spiderwick Chronicles book, and began reading The Adventures of Rama
Literature we read four chapters of Harriet the Spy, about fifteen chapters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and finished reading Understood Betsy
History finished chapter 4 and did mapwork (SOTW2) and began reading chapter 5, A King Named Skandagupta with a dictation
Math pgs. 40-43, multiplying 4-digit numbers. She'll start Saxon 3 next week
Latin We've finally started using our Lively Latin book, reading "Why Do We Study Latin?" and picking a Latin name
Extras Russian class, ballet, and violin. I also had her begin cursive writing
For my 6 year old--
Spelling Lessons 22-23. He missed 2 words on Lesson 22's test and got a perfect score (plus one extra) on lesson 23's.
Phonics Ordinary Parent's Guide lessons 93-97
Grammar FLL 94-97 plus copywork
Writing pgs. 17-25
Reading 3 chapters of The Drinking Gourd
Literature finished Understood Betsy, read the same amount in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
History Chariot of the Sun God, The Golden Touch, and The Weaving Contest from Favorite Greek Myths
Math pgs. 35-41 He'll start Saxon 2 next week
Extras We missed Guitar lesson this week because of the flu, although he did go to his Russian class
